Tyler Honeycutt's all-around ability makes him impossible for Denver Nuggets to pass up at No. 22
Tyler Honeycutt can shoot, score, handle, finish at the rim, rebound and defend. You get the feeling he hasn't even scratched the surface of his immense potential.
The UCLA forward doesn't stand out in any particular statistical category, but it is that potential has NBA scouts drooling.
With Carmelo Anthony out and J.R. Smith almost certainly on his way out, Denver suddenly needs to boost depth on the wings.
Honeycutt isn't likely to make a big impact as a rookie, but he would be a steal at No. 22.
As ESPN Insider Chad Ford points out, his underwhelming stats won't necessarily scare off NBA general managers.
"Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Darren Collison and Jrue Holiday all have been better in the pros than their college stats indicated they would be."
Looking beyond the stats, Honeycutt's wingspan and willingness to defend make him an asset to NBA teams looking to get better defensively.
Denver's defense needs all the help it can get.
Pro Potential: Before getting too carried away about Honeycutt, it's important to point out that he is one of several players in the draft who won't see the court until he bulks up.
His ability to do several things well and not one thing great makes him similar to Tayshaun Prince, who wildly exceeded expectations coming out of Kentucky.
Expect Honeycutt to make a major impact at the NBA level sooner rather than later.
