2011 NFL Mock Draft: Full 1st-Round Selections, Robert Quinn to the Browns

The Cleveland Browns Rebuild Defense With First Pick

The Cleveland Browns need to rebuild their defensive line, and drafting a wide receiver in the first round, no matter how talented the wide receiver m ay be, is attacking the problem of winning their first Super Bowl from the wrong angle.

With Julio Jones still on the board, the Browns can get a good wide receiver prospect in the draft, but you can find good wide receivers in the second round and the Browns have far too many needs on defense.

I had mocked Da'Quan Bowers and Nick Fairley here but Fairley is getting a lot of questions about his work ethic, the kinds of questions you do not want to hear. The fact he is a one-year wonder also is not encouraging. Bowers dropped after his Pro Day was not spectacular and the Browns will take Quinn over Bowers.

While the Browns proved last year knee injuries mean nothing to them on draft day with Montario Hardesty, General Manager Tom Heckert will go with Quinn with the sixth overall pick. Quinn did not play last year, but his upside is considerable, and the Browns have time to let Quinn develop as they switch the team from a 3-4 scheme to a 4-3.
