Players get hurt in this tackle football thing. Let's see what we learned in the past 24 hours of the news cycle.
Quarterbacks
• Tom Brady (foot) missed some of Friday's session, but he'll play at Chicago on Sunday. The bigger issue for Brady is the weather, with serious winds in the forecast on game day.
• Matt Cassel is coming off an appendectomy and is listed as doubtful; there's probably no way he'll be able to play at San Diego. Brodie Croyle (0-9 as a starter) will have to fill in.
• Brett Favre (shoulder) looks like a game-time decision for Sunday's match against the Giants. Oh, the drama. Tarvaris Jackson looked sharp in relief last week.
• Derek Anderson (post concussion) is listed as doubtful, which clears the way for John Skelton to start against the Broncos. Good luck with that, Arizona.
• Colt McCoy (ankle) is no sure thing for Week 14, so we might have to watch Jake Delhomme again.
Running Backs
• Adrian Peterson (ankle) did everything asked on Friday and is probable for the Giants game on Sunday.
• Jahvid Best (toe) is considered probable for Sunday, though he was held out of some of Friday's practice. Nothing will come easy against the Packers.
• Marion Barber (calf) won't dress against the Eagles, which means Tashard Choice and Felix Jones will have the backfield to themselves.
• Ryan Torain (hamstring) had a strong week of practice but Mike Shanahan hasn't tipped his hand to a starter or a usage pattern. But if you have to use one Washington back against Tampa Bay, I suppose it has to be Torain.
• Pierre Thomas (ankle) had a strong practice week and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Rams. Just what we need, more ways for Sean Payton to mess with us.
• Ahmad Bradshaw (wrist) had a full Friday and looks good for Sunday's date in Minnesota.
• Darren Sproles (post concussion) did some work Friday and is listed as questionable for the critical game against Kansas City.
• Jason Snelling (hamstring) didn't practice all week and is unlikely to play against the Panthers. More work for Michael Turner, we suppose.
Wide Receivers
• Although Calvin Johnson (groin) missed some of Friday's reps, he's listed as probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay.
• Roddy White (knee) had a full day Friday and should be fine at Carolina on Sunday.
• Hakeem Nicks (leg) had a limited practice Friday and looks like a game-time decision for Sunday's match at Minnesota. Things look better for Steve Smith (pectoral), who is telling everyone that he's a go in Week 14.
• Brandon Marshall (hamstring) is listed as questionable, though he's expected to play against the Jets. Good luck on Revis Island.
• Sidney Rice (hip) had a full session Friday and will go against the Giants. Get him in there. It doesn't look good for Percy Harvin (migraines) however; context clues point to him sitting out in Week 14.
• Andre Johnson (ankle) took some reps on Friday and should be in good shape when Monday rolls around.
• Santonio Holmes (back) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Miami.
• Vincent Jackson (calf) had a full day Friday, though he's still listed as questionable for Sunday's match against the Chiefs.
• Terrell Owens (knee) had a full Friday session and will start against Pittsburgh.
• Santana Moss (knee) had a full practice Friday and should go against the Bucs, though Mike Shanahan is listing him as questionable.
• Steve Breaston (knee) had a full Friday practice and is considered probable for Sunday's game against Denver.
• Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) is listed as probable, not that you're in a hurry to use him against the Raiders.
• Seattle's Mike Williams (ankle) is listed as questionable and looks like a risky play against the Niners. The club is a little more optimistic that Ben Obomanu (hand) will be able to go, though he's also listed as questionable.
• Brian Hartline (hand) will not play against the Jets on Sunday, not that this is a good place to use him anyway.
Tight Ends
• Antonio Gates (foot) didn't practice Friday and is a dreaded game-time decision for Sunday's game against Kansas City. Randy McMichael is the fallback plan.
• Tony Gonzalez (ankle) took all the Friday reps and should be fine at Carolina.
• Kellen Winslow (knee) had a strong practice week and is listed as probable for Sunday's trip to Washington.
• Todd Heap (hamstring) didn't practice Friday and is iffy for the Monday night affair in Houston. Ed Dickson is your fallback plan.
• Zach Miller (foot) had a full Friday practice and should play at Jacksonville.
• Heath Miller (post concussion) will not dress against Cincinnati.
