Video: Patrick Mouratoglou analyzes changes in Nadal's serve

Busted Racquet contributor Patrick Mourtaoglou, a famed French tennis coach who has worked with stars like Aravane Rezai and Marcos Baghdatis, recently produced a video which analyzes the serve of world No. 1 Rafael Nadal.

There's some great stuff in this short video. Mourtaoglou details how Nadal's serve was a weakness early in his tennis career (and he has the clips from Rafa's junior career to prove it) and breaks down the step-by-step changes Rafa has made over the past few years (some good, some bad). The subtle bent-elbow technique that Rafa and Uncle Toni developed this summer in preparation for the U.S. Open aided in Rafa's first win in New York.

One day I hope to make a similar video that breaks down the ever-changing length of Nadal's shorts. He went from John Stockton circa 1987 in the first clip to 1994 Chris Webber in the second.

  1. who cares about the shorts, Nadal already surpass most famous tennis players like Federer, Sampras and the old class...

  2. I do not care how lousy Nadal serves looks or lack technique according to Patrick Mouratoglou but Patrick Mouratoglou can not ever reach Nadal achievements in tennis. Nadal already has an asteoid named after him.

  3. I do not agree here. Nadal 2 US open semis 2008,2009 were already prelude of Nadal's win in 2010 US open, so Mouratoglou doesn't fully understand the serve, or, how to throw a ball. As a result, he was focusing on symptoms rather than the disease.

  4. Aravane Rezai and Marcos Baghdatis, they do not have a record that proves Mouratoglou's analysis of Nadal serve . It can be just like anybody who is entitled to an opinion as some coaches say.
