Villarreal's Cani throws water bottle at celebrating Mourinho

As Victor Valdes found out after Inter knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League at the Camp Nou last season, trying to contain a delightfully obnoxious Jose Mourinho celebration is impossible. Yet, Villarreal's Cani attempted to shoo Mourinho away from celebrating Kaka's first goal of the season and the final goal in Real Madrid's 4-2 win over The Yellow Submarine in front of the visiting team's bench.

Though the water bottle missed its impenetrable target, the referee showed Cani, who scored the match's opening goal and was substituted off in the 73rd minute, a red card. After the match, Mourinho made it clear that he wasn't trying to taunt the opposition and that such an occurrence is just a regular side effect of his natural behavior.

From the Times of India:

"I went to celebrate the goal with my son who was behind the visitors' bench, and the Villarreal players thought I was provoking them," Mourinho told the post-match news conference.

"I hope that when one swears on their son they believe you. I think this (situation) comes from a state of affairs where everything I do is always classed as negative."

Well, that depends who you ask, Jose. What some might class as negative, others class as endlessly entertaining.

It is kind of a shame, however, that Kaka's excellent effort to score in just his third brief appearance on his return from injury -- and the splendid series of passes that led to it -- was overshadowed by this bit of touchline nonsense. But, that's going to happen when The Special One is around.
