Chicago Bulls: Put 'Melo Rumors To Rest, He Doesn't Fit in Chicago

Oh Mr. Anthony, what will you do now? First your Team USA buddies formed a metropolis in Miami, then Amar'e Stoudamire fled to the Big Apple and Carlos Boozer made his way to the Bulls; all while you sat at home questioning your agent's decision to guarantee that his client would receive an extra guaranteed year in Denver.

Jealousy and envy, two things clearly on the mind of Anthony as he sees the teams that made big splashes in July contending and jockeying for playoff positioning in early January. Its clear, he cannot wait to leave Denver for the East Coast. But, this past week New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov shared with the media that he no longer will pursue Carmelo Anthony in a trade.

Besides the Nets, other possible destinations for Anthony are Chicago and New York, two up-and-coming teams with high playoff aspirations come April. For one team, New York, the investment in Anthony seems worth it, due to their lack of backcourt scoring prowess.

On the other hand, the Chicago Bulls have already declined trades for Anthony, and it is clear he would not fit in with the strong chemistry of the Bulls. First off, Anthony would be unable to adapt to Coach Tom Thibadeau's system. Thibadeau runs a hard nosed, man-to-man defense that would force Anthony out his comfort zone as a primarily offensive threat.

Secondly, in order for the Bulls to get Anthony, they would have to give up draft picks and some of their core players like a Luol Deng or Taj Gibson.

Third, Anthony's ego would clash with the atmosphere that the Bulls have put together during the season. It is clear that this is Derrick Rose's team, an idea that Anthony would surely object to. Throughout their respective careers, Rose and Anthony have been the primary options and leaders for their teams. It is very rare for to superstars to come together and not clash at certain points during the season.

Although Anthony is clearly one of the ten most talented players in the NBA, the Bulls are not in need of a player like him. What the Bulls need is a system guy, one that can easily fit into the newly installed culture, instituted by Thibadeau's coaching and Rose's leadership.

So Mr. Anthony, what should you do? For that, just find your good friend LeBron James; we all know he has an answer.
