ENGLEWOOD, Col. -- John Fox was introduced Friday as the Denver Broncos 14th head coach a day after he was hired in hopes of reversing the team's recent fortunes. The former Carolina Panthers coach was selected over four other finalists and given a four-year deal.
"He's a dynamic leader, he's got energy and a he's guy that gets the most out of his players," said John Elway, the team's vice president of football operations who led the search.
"He has great football wisdom," Elway added. "And I think that's from a combination of being in a lot of different places, and having worked for a lot of great coaches and most of all experience."
Owner Pat Bowlen said he believes Fox's long coaching background, experience and leadership style made him well suited to assume the job left vacant by the firing Dec. 6 of Josh McDaniels.
