Buccaneers Revamping Coaching Staff

The special teams coach on an NFL team touches nearly every corner of a squad. He can poke his head into any meeting room -- except for the quarterback room -- and have a notion to pluck this player or that player.

Dwayne Stukes, the new Tampa Bay special teams coach, has access to a receiver as a gunner, a running back as a return man, a linebacker as a blocker.

The special teams coach is more important in the building than people think, which is why the Bucs' promotion of Stukes is not trifling. Tampa Bay lost its valuable special teams coach Rich Bisaccia who left for the San Diego Chargers this week after doing his part in a turnaround 10-6 season.

"For the past five years, Coach Stukes has aided in the preparation and the development of our young players,'' Bucs general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement. "He's ready for this opportunity.''
