Andruw Jones, Yankees Reportedly Talking

Free-agent outfielder Andruw Jones and the Yankees reportedly have begun talks about a potential contract.

Nothing is close, according to SI.com, but the Yankees are seeking a right-handed-hitting outfielder and apparently would prefer not to bring back Marcus Thames in that role.

Jones, 33, had a bit of a resurgence last year with the White Sox, boosting his OPS back up to .827 (from .782 and .505 the previous two seasons) and hitting 19 homers.

Fifteen years into his career, he obviously isn't the player he used to be at the plate or in the field, but Jones would provide a serviceable platoon option for Joe Girardi after slugging .558 against lefties last year.
