NBA Finals 2011: Dirk Nowitzki's Game 2 Finish Was Simply Incredible

NBA Finals 2011: Dirk Nowitzki's Game 2 Finish Was Simply Incredible

Where does Dirk Nowitzki's final six minutes rank in NBA Finals history? Don't know and don't care.

All I know, is Dirk Nowitzki showed up down the stretch of Game 2 in a monster way and shook all concerns that his tendon injury was going to effect him in this series.

What is most surprising about Nowitzki's Game 2 performance was he did not dominate the first three and a half quarters. His shots were rimming out, he wasn't getting to the foul line and his only real impressive moments were assists.

But then something magically changed. Nowitzki morphed into the same player he was in the Lakers and Thunder series, knocking down a huge midrange jumper, a three-pointer then finishing the Heat with his drive past Chris Bosh to the basket.

What was also impressive was how Dirk set up his teammates in the final few minutes. Every play seemed like Dirk was either scoring or setting his men up.

In a game that looked like Dwyane Wade's case for Finals MVP and the Heat heading to a 2-0 lead, Nowitzki stole both storylines away.
