Rafael Nadal was able to enjoy his French Open title for, oh, 20 hours.
One day after winning his record-tying sixth French Open title (and only hours after hanging with Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Paris), Rafael Nadal was in London practicing on the grass courts of Queen's Club preparing for this week's Aegon Championships and Wimbledon, which starts two weeks from Monday.
Roger Federer withdrew from his Wimbledon warm-up in Halle on Monday. He cited a hamstring injury because that sounds better than "I'm almost 30 and want to rest." The move angered tournament director Ralf Weber.
""I am stunned," he told reporters. "Our plans for the past year have been nearly exclusively with Roger appearing. "He never gave us any doubts that he had health problems. I clearly expressed my disappointment to his management."
Express your disappointment with the ATP schedule, Ralf. Not everybody can be as superhuman as Nadal and go straight from clay courts to Cinderella's castle to grass courts in a span of 24 hours.
