The new No. 1 player in America is Bethanie Mattek-Sands

Serena and Venus Williams both lost Monday at Wimbledon, meaning that when the WTA rankings are released next week, there's going to be a new No. 1 player in America:

Bethanie Mattek-Sands will be ranked No. 30 or thereabouts when the post-Wimbledon rankings come out two days after the women's final. Serena will drop to around No. 180 after losing most of the 2,000 rankings points she earned courtesy her victory at the tournament last year. Venus forfeits 220 rankings points by virtue of her fourth-round loss and will fall to a ranking somewhere in the upper-30s.

Among the Americans who will be ranked ahead of Serena next week: Christina McHale, Varvara Lepchenko, Melanie Oudin, Vania King, Coco Vandeweghe, Jill Craybas, Irina Falconi, Alison Riske, Sloane Stephens and Jamie Hampton. Serena is expected to be ranked No. 15 in the United States.
