Nonito Donaire could be another Filipino megastar if he takes the next step successfully. The 28-year-old faces Fernando Montiel (44-2-2, 34 KOs) in Las Vegas (HBO 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).
Yahoo! Sports' lead boxing writer Kevin Iole breaks down the fight. Donaire (25-1, 17 KOs) ripped Wladimir Sidorenko back in December while Montiel is coming off a second KO that month as well.
This is a great fight with more big ones on the way for both fighters, yet Iole says this is another case where Las Vegas fans haven't been hooked. Tickets sales are tracking around 2,000 at the 11,000 seat Mandalay Bay Events Center.
