LA Angels Shatter World Record for Costume-Masked People
Let's face it. Everyone wants to be in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is one of the ultimate accomplishments in life, right up there alongside being elected the President of the United States and walking on the moon (not at the same time, of course). And unless some jerk goes out and breaks your record, your achievement is forever.
Of course, the best thing about the Guinness Book of World Records is the variety. Like, for example, if you wanted to find out what the world record is for the largest crowd of people to ever simultaneously wear costume masks, all you have to do is look it up.
Or, you could have journeyed to Angel Stadium for Tuesday's night's matchup between the Angels and the White Sox. Angels wrestling masks were handed out to each fan in attendance (photo courtesy of LarryBrownSports.com), the idea being to have everyone don the masks at the same time in order to set a new world record. The team's press release says the current record is 250 people.

To clarify, this is not a joke. And unless Twitter is lying to me, the task has been completed. Angel fans just set a new world record for the largest gathering of costume-masked people. Incredible.
In case you're wondering, this is not the first time the Angels have gone after a world record. They set the record for the most people wearing fleece blankets last season, a record that had recently been set by Cleveland Cavaliers fans.
It would appear that the Angels are going to make setting a new world record an annual thing. Shoot, there's no telling which record they'll go after next. Perhaps they'll try to have the largest gathering of people wearing babushkas, or the largest crowd of people wearing albino pythons.
Setting that last one might be a tough sell, but I wouldn't rule it out. After all, how many people could it possibly take to set the record?
