Danica Patrick Gets Drafted in Latest ESPN Article
Imagine if you will, a world where the hyperbole of the NFL draft extended to all corners of the sports world. I know. It's a scary thought that I wish I never thought of.
I have to thank David Newton of ESPN, who crafted a blog this past weekend that extends the type of scrutiny of the NFL draft to the world of auto racing.
His rules are simple. There cannot be any full-time drivers from Sprint Cup. These would be the closest to prospects and rookies you can get. Danica Patrick figures big time into the article.

Newton breaks down the draft and his number one overall pick is, you guessed it.
1. Danica Patrick -- Like Cam Newton on the NFL side, she may not be the most talented, but when you combine talent with marketability she'd be hard to pass on at No. 1. By the way, don't look for her to commit between NASCAR and IndyCar until sometime after the Indianapolis 500 -- probably by midsummer -- although most signs point toward NASCAR.
Love it. Patrick exemplifies what makes a overall first pick. She is a promising driver, but is more sexy than anything else. She has tremendous upside, and put butts in the seats.
In fact, I have no idea if I was describing Cam Newton or Danica Patrick. You can take the sexy part out of course.
