For the first time in the history of the WTA rankings, the top 10 features women from 10 different countries. (It's actually the top 11, but that doesn't sound as good as top 10):
Those nations represented are Denmark, Belgium, Russia, Italy, Australia, United States, China, Serbia, Belarus, Poland and Israel. Globalization has never been more evident in women's tennis.
In case you were wondering, there are eight countries represented in the ATP 10. Spain places three men (Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco) on the list.
