And this is why you shouldn't let Adriano go back to Brazil to "recover."
After fracturing his shoulder in Roma's Coppa Italia derby against Lazio last month, Adriano underwent surgery and was allowed to return to Brazil to begin his recovery. Given his history of fighting with ex-girlfriends, reported alcohol abuse and disappearing when back home in Brazil, Roma probably should have known that this was a bad idea. But, they let him go anyway, and now his driver's license has already been suspended for refusing a breathalyzer test.
From the AP:
Adriano was allowed by law to refuse the breathalyzer test but by doing so his license was automatically suspended for five days and he will have to pay a fine of $574.
Adriano told police officers he had been drinking but was not drunk, police Major Marco Andrade told The Associated Press.
Adriano will go on trial because of his refusal to take the breathalyzer test and can still be found guilty of drunk driving.
There has been speculation that Adriano wanted to be in Brazil during his recovery just so he could attend Carnival and visit with Ronaldinho, who now plays for Adriano's former team, Flamengo. Now it seems he also went back to drink and drive (with one hand).
